Probably, many think it doesn’t matter how a title page looks like because the most important is the context of the term paper. But they are wrong. A correctly laid-out term paper title page makes a difference. And students cannot disregard it unless their teacher says otherwise. However, before starting formatting a title page, you should always pay close attention to the formatting style your term paper should be written in. Generally, there are four styles which are quite similar but at the same time quite different. They are MLA (Modern Language Association), APA (American Psychological Association), Chicago, and Harvard.
TERM PAPER TITLE PAGE IN MLA STYLE
In the upper left-hand corner indicate your name, the teacher’s name, the name of course and date. In the center of the next line put the title of a term paper but it should not be underlined, italicized, or emphasized. And finally feel free to start typing your term paper from the very next line. However, remember that before the page number there should be your surname. Moreover, the spacing between lines and paragraphs should be double.
TERM PAPER TITLE PAGE IN APA STYLE
The title page should contain the title of your term paper, your name, and the name of university/college/school. These should be centered in the upper half of the page. Also, remember that an APA paper always contains a header which looks like this: TITLE OF YOUR TERM PAPER. But the header of the title page looks a little different: Running head: TITLE OF YOUR TERM PAPER.
TERM PAPER TITLE PAGE IN CHICAGO STYLE
In the upper half of the page you should center the capitalized title of your term paper and your name, class, and date in the lower half. There should be no header or page number on the title page.
TERM PAPER TITLE PAGE IN HARVARD STYLE
The capitalized title of your term paper and your name preceded by the preposition “by” should be in the upper half of the page while the name of the class, the name of your professor, the name of your university/college/school, city and state where it is situated, and date should be placed in the lower half. Additionally, remember to include the header (it should look like this: Title of Your Term Paper before) before the page number.
So, formatting a title page is not complicated. Just follow the tips above or simply check image of the title page in the formatting style you need.
